How to run the test

  1. Clean your screen with a microfiber cloth — dust looks exactly like a dead pixel.
  2. Start the test and cycle each color slowly, watching for dots that don't match.
  3. Check the black screen in a dim room for backlight bleed around the edges.
  4. Press Esc to exit, and note any pixel positions before contacting support.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I test my screen for dead pixels?

Clean your screen, start the test, and cycle through each full-screen color slowly. Look for dots that stay black on white (dead pixels) or shine a fixed color on every background (stuck pixels). The whole check takes about a minute.

What's the difference between a dead pixel and a stuck pixel?

A dead pixel's entire sub-pixel assembly is off — it shows as a permanent black dot on a white screen. A stuck pixel has one or more sub-pixels frozen on, so it glows red, green or blue on every background. Stuck pixels can sometimes be revived by rapid color cycling; dead pixels usually need a warranty replacement.

How do I check backlight bleed?

Run the black screen in a dark room. Look at the corners and edges: hazy white glow near the borders is backlight bleed. Small amounts are normal on LCD panels; large clouds or spots are grounds for an exchange.

Does the test work on phones and tablets?

Yes — tap the left or right side of the screen to change colors and the test covers the full display. Fullscreen mode needs a browser that supports the Fullscreen API.
